Cannabis dispensaries in Minnesota are expected to open by early 2025. The state is currently developing a comprehensive licensing system, which needs to be in place before dispensaries can start operations. The regulatory process is underway, and dispensaries outside of tribal lands are anticipated to begin selling recreational cannabis by early 2025.

However, some tribal nations, such as the Red Lake Nation and the Prairie Island Indian Community, will be opening their dispensaries sooner. For example, the Prairie Island Indian Community launched its adult-use dispensary, Island Peži, in the summer of 2024.
