Where Is The Midwest In USA?
This is the question we get asked the most! Seriously, every day we get asked this. By the way, if you have a question, drop it in the comments below or email us: tatertot@jackandkitty.com. Let’s get to our answer. Guys, picture this: endless cornfields stretching as far as the eye can see, friendly faces waving hello from their front porches, and a sense of down-to-earth charm that just can’t be found anywhere else. That’s the Midwest for you! π½ But where the heck is it?
πΊοΈ What Is The Midwest?
The Midwest is a region smack dab in the center of the United States, made up of 12 states (and we write about all of ’em): Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota (hey, that’s out home state!), Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin (hey, they have awesome cheese curds). It’s known for its wide-open spaces, hardworking folks, and a whole lot of heart. Maybe that’s why the Midwest is called the Heartland of America!
π A Little Bit of History
The Midwest has a rich history that dates back to the early days of the United States. Indigenous folks like the Sioux, Chippewa, and Potawatomi called this land home long before European settlers arrived. As the country grew, the Midwest became known as America’s breadbasket, thanks to its fertile soil and ideal growing conditions for crops like corn, soybeans, and wheat.
π What You Can Expect Today
If you find yourself in the Midwest today, get ready for a whole lot of hospitality and some seriously delicious food. From Chicago-style deep-dish pizza to Cincinnati chili, the Midwest knows how to satisfy your taste buds. And let’s not forget about the famous state fairs, where you can chow down on everything from deep-fried Oreos to butter sculptures (yes, you read that right!). And here in Minnesota, don’t even get us started on tater tot hotdish or jucy lucys!
But the Midwest isn’t just about the food. It’s also home to some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Don’t be surprised if a stranger strikes up a conversation with you while you’re waiting in line at the grocery store or if your neighbor brings over a fresh-baked pie just because. We also love telling awesome dad jokes.
ποΈ Natural Wonders Galore
The Midwest is also known for its stunning natural beauty. From the shores of Lake Michigan to the rolling hills of the Ozarks, there’s no shortage of breathtaking scenery to explore. Take a hike through the lush forests of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, or watch the sun set over the vast prairies of Kansas. Trust us; you won’t be disappointed.
π½ FAQ About The Midwest
Ok, so we have some additional questions about the Midwest that we’ve been asked, and we are grouping these within this blog post. Here goes…a few more questions you’ve asked that we are answering!
Where is Michigan in the Midwest?
Check out the map towards the top of this page. Michigan is in the NE part of the Midwest. It’s split and shaped like a mitten!
Where is the Midwest in America?
Well, this is basically the same question as “Where Is The Midwest In USA?” – so I guess our answer remains the same. Hehe.
Where is the Midwest in Canada?
Sadly, the Midwest is not part of Canada, even though sometimes us Minnesotans can be confused for Canadians. Mostly because of something called the Minnesota Accent (why apparently is quite attractive, who knew?). Canada is just north of Minnesota and North Dakota so we like writing about Ontario and Manitoba sometimes.
Where is the Midwest in Ireland?
Well, unfortunately Ireland is not part of the Midwest. But we wish it were. Ireland is across the Atlantic Ocean and over by England. It’d be fun if Ireland was somehow part of the Midwest, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. LOL. In the meantime, here’s some St. Patrick’s Day jokes.
Conclusion
So, there you have it! The Midwest is a region full of heart, hospitality, and some of the most hardworking folks you’ll ever meet. Whether you’re chowing down on a juicy pork tenderloin sandwich or exploring the great outdoors, the Midwest is sure to leave a lasting impression on you. π Happy travels!
