Why do they call it Oktoberfest?

Question: Why do they call it Oktoberfest?

Answer:

Oktoberfest got its name because it originally started in October. The first festival took place in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria to Princess Therese. The festivities ran for 16 days, ending in the first week of October.

Over the years, the festival was moved to September to take advantage of better weather. Today, it still retains the name Oktoberfest, even though most of the events happen in late September!
