WINONA, MN – Jack and I have spent countless mornings sipping coffee at Ridgelands Coffeehouse. Itās one of our favorite spots in our little hometown of Winona, Minnesota. With its cozy atmosphere and friendly facesāit’s more than just a coffee shop, itās a hub for locals and students alike. So when we heard the news about the fire, we were heartbroken, like many in the community.
A quiet night in Winona turned chaotic when a fire broke out early Tuesday morning, damaging not only Ridgelands Coffeehouse but also the Lutheran Campus Center, located just across from Winona State University.
Emergency Crews Respond Quickly to Blaze
The Winona Fire Department received the call at around 1:30 a.m., rushing to the 450 block of Huff Street where the building housing the coffeehouse and church center was ablaze. Upon arrival, they found the rear of the building damaged by the fire.
The fire department reported moderate damage to the structure. Alongside them, the Winona Police Department, Winona Area Ambulance Service, Winona County Sheriff’s Office, and Xcel Energy all assisted at the scene.
Ridgelands Coffeehouse Shuts Down Indefinitely
Luckily, no one was injured in the incident. However, the damage was enough to force Ridgelands Coffeehouse, owned by Amber and Jason Ziebell, to close its doors.
A worker confirmed the closure with our newsroom earlier this morning, leaving coffee lovers in the community uncertain about when their favorite spot will reopen. This is such a loss to our local community.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the loss has left many in the community feeling the void, especially with Ridgelands Coffeehouse being a staple for locals and students alike.
As updates on the investigation and the future of Ridgelands become available, weāll be sure to keep our readers informed.
