Maxie calls the small town of Sumner home, and for good reason. With a population of just over 115 people, there are actually more geese than humans in this charming little spot! It’s no wonder Sumner has earned the title of the Wild Goose Capital of the World.

So, who’s the genius behind this colossal creation? None other than David C. Jackson, a talented artist from Kansas City. Back in 1974, Jackson brought Maxie to life, and she’s been turning heads and bringing smiles to faces ever since.
📏 Just How Big Is Maxie?
Brace yourself, because Maxie is one seriously super-sized goose. Standing tall at a jaw-dropping 40 feet, with wings that span an impressive 65 feet, Maxie is a true spectacle. Fun fact: her name actually comes from the scientific name for the Giant Canada Goose, which is Branta Canadensis Maxima. 🤓
🔧 Giving Maxie a Makeover
As the years went by, Maxie started to show her age a bit. But fear not, because Jackson’s daughters stepped up to the plate and launched a fundraising campaign to give Maxie a much-needed facelift.
