Stanton, Iowa – Welcome to a small town in Iowa with a big love for coffee! This place has a unique claim to fame: the world’s largest Swedish coffee pot and a matching coffee cup water tower. These quirky Iowa landmarks are not just for show; they’re a nod to Stanton’s Swedish roots and its connection to a famous coffee-loving actress.
Stanton’s story starts with Swedish immigrants who settled here long ago. The town’s most famous former resident is Virginia Christine, known as “Mrs. Olsen” in Folgers coffee commercials.
To honor her and their coffee heritage, the town transformed a water tower into a giant coffee pot. This Swedish-style pot is a sight to behold, with its colorful hearts and flowers, standing 35 feet tall and holding 800,000 cups of coffee!
But Stanton didn’t stop there. They later added a giant coffee cup and saucer water tower, which can hold even more “coffee” – 150,000 gallons of water, to be exact. This towering cup even won the “Tank of the Year” award in 2000!
Sadly, the original coffee pot tower was taken down in 2015, but the town kept the pot for everyone to see and take pictures with at ground level.
So if you’re a coffee lover, Stanton is a must-visit spot.

You can find these coffee-themed landmarks on Thorn Avenue. Just head south on Hwy 120 from US Hwy 34 and make a left onto Thorn St. Continue east for three blocks until you spot the Coffee Pot on your left.
