Earlier this week, the Kent County Animal Shelter in Michigan was pleasantly surprised by a heartfelt donation. A letter arrived, written in the careful handwriting of a child, explaining how Abby had set up a lemonade stand and raised $80, which her parents then generously matched, bringing the total to over $160.
Abbyâs note expressed her hope that the money could be used to buy something special for the animals. It read as follows:
âDear Kent County Animal Shelter, I had a lemonade stand and earned $80 plus some change, and my parents matched it. So over $160 are going to the animals. Maybe you can buy a toy or something for them. Sincerely, Abbyâ
The shelter acted on Abbyâs wish and spent the funds on toys and treats for the dogs and cats in their care. The kindness shown by Abby deeply touched the shelter’s staff, who were amazed that a young girl would choose to donate her earnings to the animals.
