The Minnesota legend of the Hairy Man of Vergas Trail has been whispered around campfires and shared from generation to generation. This eight-foot-tall, long-haired, and musty-smelling mystery figure has always been spotted barefoot and often blamed for the unexplained demise of local wildlife.

The Hairy Man’s story emerged in the 1960s, reached its peak in the 1970s, and gradually faded away after the 1980s. Opinions in Vergas differ: some believe it’s just a legend, while others swear they’ve encountered an old hermit living deep in the woods, protective of his secluded domain.
One of the most spine-tingling tales comes from Ken Zitzow, who returned one night with his car sporting dents on the hood. He claimed the Hairy Man leaped in front of his vehicle, pounding it with fury.

Cheryl Hanson, who had a close encounter with the Hairy Man during her childhood, vividly remembers the chilling incident. She was snowmobiling near an old cabin they stumbled upon when a creature, unlike anything she’d ever seen, emerged from the cabin. This mysterious being had imposingly broad shoulders and was walking barefoot in the snow, leaving Cheryl with no doubt that it was not of human origin.
Adding to the intrigue, a human-like skull was discovered by a local on the Klondike, the area where most Hairy Man sightings occurred. Curiously, they never reported it to the authorities, leaving us to wonder if it was a man, an animal, or something altogether different.

To me it’s no mystery. Of the 1000’s of accounts I’ve read, and from what I’ve witnessed personally, this so called “Mystery” sounds like a Bigfoot/ big hairy man/ Sasquatch. They most definitely exist!!
